XI - Crosseyed - Seeing Strate

XI Crosseyed demo. I know nothing about this band or tape. Something i picked up along the way and i have no clue. Definitely has psychedelic tenancies with a 13th floor elevators vibe mixed with other various psych music. I have no idea if they ever heard of the Jersey band The Secret Syde but sorta has a bit of that in there in parts as well. I have no idea of the year either.... Anyone have any info?

The Exposed - Mrs. B Is Screaming At The Dog Again

New Jersey punk rock from around 1985 or 86, i can't remember exactly, or exactly where these guys were from. I'm thinking Toms River or Brick Town but i can't be sure. I also can't remember who they were but I think one of the guys was Yosi Levin who is now a pretty successful children's musician and who i can remember going to a least a few shows with back in the day. If anyone has any more info on The Exposed please feel free to leave it in the comments!

Slag - Demo (1985?)

Slag were hardcore punk from Coral Springs Florida from the mid/late 80's. This is a pretty rare little demo and i only have it because the drummer Timmy (Gitlan) Scheoleber is one of my best friends on this planet, and we have been for over 30 years. Back in the early 80's we started our first bands together and jammed in Timmy's garage. We sucked. But we were kids. Timmy was only 12 at the time, i think i was 14. We went by various lame names such as "The Mud Shuttle Band" & "The Never You Mind Band" & later when we thought we were metal "Destroyer". We would steal crap liquor from my Grand Ma's house and go get drunk and play. Anyway, not too soon after we started our Rock N' Roll careers together in the Garbage state of New Jersey, Timmy moved away to Florida. But we stayed in touch and wrote each other via real snail mail.

Fast forward a few years later and i started my own Hardcore band called Social Decay here in NJ and Timmy was in a Hardcore punk band called Slag in Florida. We traded tapes. And here is it some 27 or so years later. I'm pretty sure this was 1985. No later than 1986 and no earlier than 1984... The tape starts out a bit wobbly but hey, this this has been around for longer than most people reading this....

Timmy tells me stories of being completely fucked up on acid and crack and a lot of drinking w/ these miscreants. Punk rock life. The band consisted of Genny Slag on Vocals. Way Cool Jr. Larry on guitar. Black Troy on Bass & Timmy on drums. They played around the Coral Springs area and played with Florida bands like The Belching Penguins & Nuclear Beer and opened for big band s like The Dead Kennedy's, GBH & BGK.

Timmy and I are still friends and we have been jamming ever since he moved back to NJ in the early 90's... Even playing in a band called "Godspeed" that did some cool things like opening for Black Sabbath & Dio on tours in 1994.

I wish i had some more pics but it doesn't seem like any more exist from this time. Bummer. Just this little one you can hardley see....

If anyone is searching for Slag and finds this and has anymore info PLEASE drop it!

I will update with more info as/if i get it!

Kenmores - Prototype - Demo

I've got more demo tapes than i will ever have time to post. Today i just walked by a box in the basement and grabbed one out on the random. No info on these guys but take a bit of Helmet, Steel Pole Bathtub, VoiVod, & Tad, add in some 90's Alternative influences, even though you really want to be Metal, but Metal wasn't all that fashionable, give it a slightly proggy pop edge while still keeping it slightly grind-y, and you might get close to these guys sound...

Pretty cool riffs here and there on this one. I like when the singer stays screamy and more sinister but i can do without the "singy" parts or the spoken word entries..... ugh.

a total 90's time piece.

the band consisted of:

Bass - Byran Bridgman
Guitar - Tannon Penland
Drums - John Freiberger
Vocals - Dwain Curd

Oxblood - Demo

Tough working class Oi by NY band Oxblood.

The bands bio taken from their Website:

The band started out in 1992. There was not much of an oi scene in nyc at the time. Some bands came and went until four die hards members, tired of no shows, no bands, but so much oi in their blood to start a band for themselves, and embark onto a journey that still continues today. A band that would go down and still is in the history of oi as the most infamous, band around. In the beginning, the line-up consisted of Harry drums, unknown bass, Mac guitar, frank vocals. Harry left the band to pursue his tattooing career in 1994. Frank left right after that to pursue his Psychobilly band(TR6).So Mac jumped on vocals.Kev joined the band on drums in Febuary of '96.After Frank's departure of the band in '94,he returned to his duties as the original vocalist in March of '08. The current line up consist of Frank on vocals, unknown on bass, Kevin on guitar/drums and Alex (Carnage Krew,Fed Up,Offensive Weapon)on drums/guitar.This is the last and final line up from here on out... In spite of their reputation, rumors and setbacks that they have encountered throughout the years, Oxblood is still alive and kicking. The gods of of oi are looking upon them and guiding them through thick & thin to the path of victory. A reflection of our everyday life in New York City. We sing about many things . We do many covers in our sets by bands like Sham 69, 4skits, & other early oi French bands. Rose Tattoo-remedy etc.

Happy 4th of July America......

The Burnt Toast Band - S/T Tape

Ok, enough with the reader submissions for now. I just found this tape in a thrift store here in NJ. I almost didn't buy because the cover looked sorta hokey and it was a whole .99 cents! and i didn't want to waste a buck on it.... hey, i'm unemployed and every buck counts! But, i opened it up and the 1st song title was "Stoned".... So i figured oh hell, i will pay a buck to hear it. I'm glad i did. It is actually a pretty awesome lo-fi & overdriven heavy 70's stoner style rock tape with some really long guitar jams with plenty of that slightly inept playing that teeters on the brink of destruction @ every note! = awesome! Its mega distorted and pretty low fi which reminds me of some George Brigman and new band Vee Dee in spots, with a slightly more pop element times. And i do mean slight. maybe it has a bit of a Seattle Grunge thing going on too.... ?There is something else it reminds me of but i just can't place it in my brain right now. (maybe Mad River or Pavlov's Dog) If i was told this was 1974 instead of 1994 it would not be hard to believe it. It sounds that authentic. I really dig it besides the lame tape cover. I searched & searched for info on this band from Scranton PA and found NOTHING. If you have any info please let me know. All i have is the info on the tape.

Fran Dodgson - Bass
Paul Iacavazzi - Drums
Matthew Balmer - Guitar
Pete Iacavazzi - Guitar / Vocals

Produced by John Meyers at Plymouth Rocks Recording Studio. (I'm half tempted to call the number listed!)

For now enjoy!

The mediafire link for the Pieces From The Wasteland Demo

You´ve got our covers in the rar archive

we´re in youtube too
I´ll give you our myspace, too.

And our website

Feral Babies - Demo

Man i suck... I got this demo last year and just got around to posting it up..... Feral Babies is a hardcore punk band from Tampa, FL. Music is primitive, raw, angry and fast but maintains a catchy and melodic vibe to it. Similar to late 70's Cali punk acts like Circle Jerks, Germs, Dickies and JFA....

I really dig this. It lives up to the similarities posted above. I'd also throw in the word TIGHT! This is a great little slice of old school sytyled Hardcore. Before you know it the 5 song demo is over and your left saying i want more!!! Sweet.

Check out their FACEBOOK page where you can get the 7 inch and check out more pics and info or download the demo HERE:

The Underachievers - Skip The Salad Demo 1986

Wow.... It's been forever since i posted.... I promised this one to an old friend and it took me a while to dig it out but here is the great & under-rated demo from The Underachievers. The Skip The Salad demo came out in 1986. This is pretty typical hardcore punk stuff from NJ from that time period but doesn't get the respect it deserves. Don't know how many copies of these gout out back in the day but i would guess not that many... THE UNDERACHIEVERS were - Bruce Boyd (drums), Watson (guitar), George Schnurr (vocals), Chris Lough (bass)- I think Jon Kleiman one time drummer from Monster Magnet was in the band for a minuet too?

I think some of these songs were to be pressed to a 7 inch but that never happened. Great & Fun NJHC. Enjoy!

School Of Violence - Live Demo 1986

A great live demo tape from 1986 by School Of Violence. This is right around the time Social Decay played w/ them at CBGB. Here is a great histoty of S.O.V. - Stolen from their myspace page: SCHOOL OF VIOLENCE were formed in 1983 in NYC by guitarist Stegmon Von Heintz. Corey Clark (later from Warrior Soul) their first drummer. Corey was replaced by Kerry Riley, who drew S.O.V.'s original artwork, and contributed to their earliest songs. By 1984 they had enlisted bassist Rick Stone, drummer Willy and vocalist Paul Toxic, Jr. Paul wrote many of S.O.V.'s first songs, but was later kicked out of the band, and replaced with gravel voiced Ohio native Brian Childers, formerly of San Francisco based BOMB. Brian recorded two demos sith S.O.V., one a live "Off The Board" tape recorded at CBGB in 1986, the second a studio demo engineered by Don Fury. After a gig at The Ritz in NYC, Chris Williamson almost managed SOV, as did the manager from DRI. S.O.V. were courted and signed for a seven album record deal by Death Records, but midway through negotiating the appearance of their track "Religion" on the Complete Death II compilation, Brian left S.O.V., later to form CRAWLPAPPY, a band who in their short, illustrious career included ex members of bands as diverse as PRONG and ALICE DONUT. Brian's absence from S.O.V. as Complete Death II's release neared, and Steg's interstitial duty as front man, are why Steg is credited with vocals on this comp, when it is Brian who is featured. Bassist Rick Stone had also left early on in negotiations with Death Records, and, against his own better judgment, Steg brought in vocalist Karl Agell, formerly from Connecticut based SEIZURE, who appears on S.O.V.'s first and only album, "We, the People...?" The album received scant distribution, and the band little tour support. Rick Stone was briefly replaced by a stand in bassisd, George, who got hit by a cab early in his tenure. S.O.V. was set to tour in support of the album, so it was time to summon Scott Helland, one half of the musical tag team behind Massachussetts based OUTPATIENTS, who learned their set in all of two weeks. On returning from the tour, Scott Helland was joined by brother Vis, bringing S.O.V up to a 5 piece. Karl Agell then left S.O.V. to join CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, and appeared on their album "Blind", and in their video "Vote With a Bullet", before forming his current band, LEADFOOT. Reed from COC played drums after Karl left when Mark missed a gig. Brian was also up for COC, whom Steg had reccommended over Karl. Nobby from Broken Bones tried out to fill Karl's position on vocals, but Steg found it necessary to resume pulling double duty as frontman. Soon Mark left S.O.V. to join WARRIOR SOUL, bringing the band's entire history full circle. Ron Swenson, former manager of the Plasmatics, managed SOV towards the end of their career, but without Mark on drums, S.O.V. disbanded in 1990. PLEASE NOTE: Drummer Mark S. Evans is now deceased. After his time in WARRIOR SOUL, Mark returned to his native England , and was out one night, when two men and a woman stole his leather jacket. Mark went after them. The trio attacked Mark, strangled him to death, and set his body on fire. Brian Childers died in 2007 from alcohol poisoning. Stegmon Von Heintz went on to form PSYCHO 69, and later, briefly, had a band with Uncle Al from Murphy’s Law, and Steg's son on drums, called SENILE, and another, called FAT NANCY. He now builds custom motorcycles for Felony Flyers, after a successful run with his own Kill City Choppers. And Rick Stone? Who can say? School Of Violence - Live Demo 1986

Kung-Pao - Demo

Not sure what ever happened to these guys but they were a lot of fun. Often lumped in the "Stoner Rock" category i hear more Fudge Tunnel and Killdozer than Fu Manchu or Monster Magnet and more noise and aggression than laid back weed vibes.
