Unknown Metal Band - Demo
I have no idea who this is but i really dig it. It is gnarly thrashy crossover shit with big sloppy riffing guitar A-plenty! Exactly the kind os metal i love! Sort of sound alike Medieval or Black Task, thrown threw the Venom grinder with some NYHC stylings ala Sarcasm. Perfect. BUT, i have no idea who it is or how old it is. There is no info on the tape or the cover. Juding by the worn cover with no writing on it, it could be vintage 83 to 86 or it could be kids doing a modern take on the old school shitz, i really don't know. I don't even know where i got it from. I just found it in a box and was like, hey i wonder what is on here. It's only 3 songs and it's over fast but man this thing shreds. If anyone has ANY ideas who this is or when it came out feel free to leave a comment!!!!

Cyanamid - I Love NJ Demo & Live
Holy fuck are you guys in for a treat! One of the best and least known of all the Jersey bands long lost demo tape from around 1983. Some of this made its way on the the Mutha Records Stop The World 7 inch and the Buy Our Records comp New Jersey's Got It? But the real winner is the insanely rare live tracks on side 2! It is very clear this dudes did not give a fuck and that rules. They do the flipper dirge thing with ease and then thrash to the fastest blast beats years before most bands were. Just great.
I did not chop the songs up individually because to be honest the song list doesn't really seem to match what is actually on the tape and some songs just go into each other and making individual tracks was a near impossible task (ok, i'm just sorta lazy too) but shut up and and stop complaining and have at it.

Dim Mak - Demo
Dim Mak is a death metal band from New Jersey. The band was formed from the ashes of Ripping Corpse, by guitarist Shaune Kelley, vocalist Scott Ruth, and drummer Brandon Thomas. Thomas left the band sometime after the release of Intercepting Fist to later join The Dying Light.
The band's lyrical and thematic inspirations include martial arts, Bruce Lee, human rage and violence, Lovecraft's Cthulu Mythos, battles, etc.
Pretty sure these are different mixes from the Enter The Dragon album. They sound different to me. Not sure of the year but if it's before the Enter The Dragon album has to be around 1992 or 1993.
Also, even though is says No Rope A Dope on the cover only the first 3 songs are present. Sorry....

Birdfriend - Demo
Heavy intrumental music made by a bunch of stinky acid eating hippies from Toms River / Long Branch NJ in the early 90's. I don't know if they ever made tape covers but i don't have one. They might have just made this to give to Jacko @ The Brighton Bar / Cafe Bar to get some gigs. The tape is also kind of wonky but I'm throwing it out there anyway. Pretty twisted Frank Zappa styled heavy metal, acid rock, surf rock freakout stuff. My memory is foggy but i think Jason Silverio played drums, or maybe Jim Butler? Or was it Matt Gunverdahl??? and Joe Butler bass w/ John Butler on Guitar but i could be wrong. These 2 songs are taped over a "Toast" demo tape that was the Butler brothers other band. If anyone has any more info please drop it...

Chaindrive - 3 songs - 1992 Cameltoe Productions
Funny story about this band and an encounter with the police i had. My old band played with these guys once and i bought a shirt from the band because i liked them. The shirt was a graphic drawing of a 3 way gay orgy and all the dudes were dressed up like cops and underneath it said "PIGS SUCK, FUCK 'EM". I got pulled over by the cops wearing said shirt and it was not a pleasant experience... Ah, to be young again.
No cover or track list for this one. If anyone has any info feel free to drop it.

XI - Crosseyed - Seeing Strate
XI Crosseyed demo. I know nothing about this band or tape. Something i picked up along the way and i have no clue. Definitely has psychedelic tenancies with a 13th floor elevators vibe mixed with other various psych music. I have no idea if they ever heard of the Jersey band The Secret Syde but sorta has a bit of that in there in parts as well. I have no idea of the year either.... Anyone have any info?

Violent Society - Newtown Sucks
Punk rock from 1993 from Violent Society. I had a request for this one so here it is...
Violent Society is a punk rock band that formed in 1990. The band is based out of Philadelphia, PA. The band was formed in high school by two friends, Mike (Mick), Pat (Pat Society) and drummer Andy Petrov. Bill (Dirty Rotten Bill) and Pat Kelly filled out the lineup in 1990/91. Dave (Huevos) replaced Bill shortly before recording the album. "Not Enjoyin' It" In 1996 "The Rise of Punk" album was released. The year 1997 saw the release of "Times of Distraught" and in 1999, "Separation is Killing Us," the final album before breaking up. Violent Society has toured the United States and Europe numerous times. The band primarily stopped playing together in 2003, occasionally performing "reunion" shows from. However, the band has since regrouped in 2008 with the current lineup. 2010 saw a return to touring with a West Coast tour in June along with the release of "We Don't Believe" on Creep Records. The band recently recorded new material for a soon-to-be-released Kill Your Idols tribute album and an upcoming Christmas compilation. The band reached back to olden days to capture Showcase Showdown's "Merry Christmas, I Fucked Your Snowman". They are now concentrating on new material for release in 2011.
The above is lifted from Wiki and it says they formed in 1990 but i have a tape from 1988 from a Violent Society with a NJ address so maybe it's a different band? Also this release is not on any of their discography's that i see. Rare? maybe....? Good? Yeah, pretty good... Enjoy!

The Exposed - Mrs. B Is Screaming At The Dog Again
New Jersey punk rock from around 1985 or 86, i can't remember exactly, or exactly where these guys were from. I'm thinking Toms River or Brick Town but i can't be sure. I also can't remember who they were but I think one of the guys was Yosi Levin who is now a pretty successful children's musician and who i can remember going to a least a few shows with back in the day. If anyone has any more info on The Exposed please feel free to leave it in the comments!

Helen Shapiro - Demo
Throw equal parts Frank Zappa, Primus & Black Sabbath w/ some punk rock and thrash metal thrown in for good measure and you might get close to Helen Shapiro. Great band to see live and great guys. Bass player Tony Ricci was a close friend back in the day and took trips out of town with my old band Godspeed (He had a truck) and even played sax on our record "Ride". I think he moved out west and i aint heard from him since. Maybe, he will read this and get in touch!?! I still have my Helen Shapiro shirt with the cover of this demo on it.... strangely over the years it shrunk and doesn't fit anymore but it aint going anywhere. Hard to believe that this shit all happened over 20 years ago.... I only wish that we all had iPhones and video technology at our finger tips back then like we do now so more of the shit we did was documented. it's all lost to time and memory and these memories are fading as time goes on.... This was recorded at Subterranean Sound in Long Branch by Stacey Phelon where everybody from the shore recorded. And the members were Rob (Secretious) Avison, Jon (Flagpole) Baron & Tony (Cow) Ricci. If anyone know where Tony is tell him to drop me a line!
